New “Subcompact Crossover” segment gaining momentum

With passenger cars steadily losing ground to larger and higher ground clearance vehicles, the newest release of subcompact crossovers has become one of the most popular vehicle segments as it merges the efficiency of a passenger car with the utility and higher ground clearance of an SUV. Some vehicles are only offered in front-wheel drive, while others offer all-wheel drive as an option.Examples for 2019 model year include:

  • Nissan Kicks
  • Toyota C-HR
  • Ford Ecosport
  • Chevy Trax
  • Subaru Crosstrek
  • Hyundai Kona
